Summertime, my favorite time of year! The pools are running and kids are playing. This time of year is when we all start to settle into summer and enjoy our pools and spas. The water is refreshing when we hit these 90-100 degree days.
I do feel that most customers should lower the temp in their spas. I think 102 degrees would just not be inviting now. I would like to see the spas set for 82-85 degrees. This is the optimal temperature for chemicals and for cooling off on these humid days.
You may see a lot of clouding water usually caused by low sanitizer level or high PH. It is very important to keep a close eye on your water chemistry during these heat spells as the water could turn a nice shade of green very easily.
Your local pool store should offer free water testing. They will give you an accurate reading on the levels and recommend what you need to do to get the water balanced and clear. You should also be adding an algaecide to your pool weekly in this hot weather to remove the food that the algae feed on. You should also be adding Oxygen shock to your spa to keep the sanitizer charged up and ready to go.
