Hey everyone! Its August and the kids are not looking forward to going back to school, but I'm sure some of the parents are. I just wanted to send out a reminder that August is a good month to drain and refill your spas. This way you will get 3 months till the next draining and that will be right before winter sets in.
I tell all my customers to drain their spas in August and then around Thanksgiving. This way they should be good through March and get through the coldest part of the winter. Try not to drain the spa in the heart of winter as things can happen and you could get distracted and forget the spa, then ending up with frozen plumbing and a very expensive spring.
The easiest way to drain the spa is with a
submersible pump
. You just connect your garden hose to the pump and place in the foot well of the spa and plug it in (always be sure to turn off the breakers to the spa BEFORE draining).
As the spa is refilling add your
metal removing agent
, fill spa to proper level, turn on the breakers and test for operation. If all is good test the water with your test strips and adjust the
Alkalinity
level first, then the
PH
and
Calcium Hardness
. Wait for the water temp to get above 80 degrees and then add your Bromine or Chlorine.
Then all you have to do is enjoy those brisk fall and winter nights in your 100 degree spa.
Until Next Time...
