Hey everyone, today I want to talk a little about Ozone units and their benefits. There are a few different types of ozone. The most popular today is the
Corona Discharge
or C.D. ozone. This one is the newest technology and is usually a smaller unit that easily fits into the control box area of a spa.
The older style ozone units use a light bulb that will need to be replaced every 1-2 years. Both of these systems work about the same. Oxygen is passed over or threw the unit and the Corona or
light bulb
will create the ozone and send it threw to the plumbing via a
Mazzi injector
.
A mazzie injector allows the water to pass through the bottom and that movement creates a siphon on the top and pulls the ozone through the tubing to mix with the water. The ozone charged oxygen particles travel to the spa water and start the sanitizing process.
With both of these styles you still need to use a minimal amount of
Chlorine
or
Bromine
to help keep the water clean and safe. Most ozone units will install easily and anyone can follow the instructions to install the unit yourself in about an hour, you may need to purchase the
injector
and
check valves
separately. Also you made need to empty your spa to do the installation so do it during one of your drain and clean cycles.
Until next time....
