Is Your Pool Or Spa Keeping You Up At Night?

Does your spa or pool pump seem to be getting louder? It probably is. All pool and spa pumps have a life span. Spa pumps tend to last around 3-5 years, pool pumps can last longer because they are not used as much.

One of the biggest reasons pumps fail is water chemistry. It is very important that you keep your PH and Alkalinity in check. Low PH is acidic and can damage the ceramic seals of the pump which then lets water leak into the electric end of the pump and starts to rust the windings and bearings. As these parts rust they start to squeal and this is what you are hearing.

You can adjust your spa and or pool pumps to run at an earlier time as to not annoy your neighbors while they are trying to sleep. With your pool you should have a time clock and you can just set the pool to come on at around 9am - 10am and turn off at around 5pm - 6pm. In most cases 8 hrs is plenty for your pool to properly maintain clarity.

Spas filter 2 times a day 12 hours apart, so you can adjust this by turning off the power to the spa at 9am and then turn the power back on and the spa will start it's first filter cycle automatically then the second filter cycle should be from 9pm - 11pm.

Remember if your pumps are loud you probably need to replace them. But at least this way you can sleep and keep peace with the neighbors until you replace it.

Until next time...
