Often I get asked how long will my spa last. This is a difficult question to answer as there are many variables involved. How well you maintain your water is key. If you are not
testing
and balancing your water you will not get a very long life out of the spa. The
pumps
have
ceramic seals
that protect the electric part of the pump from water when these seals break down and water gets into the motor your pump will fail.
The plumbing is a
PVC plastic
and while it will not corrode it call get a buildup of calcium that can clog and cause undo stress on the plumbing which in turn will cause leaking. The acrylic is very strong so this part of the spa should last a very long time with minimal care.
There are other components in the spa that will fail periodically due to wear and tear, examples are circ pumps,
heaters
,
ozone units
etc. Sadly this is expected. The cost of these components will vary. Pumps can be very expensive. You should have a warranty for a certain period of time usually 3-5 years, after that you pay for all repairs. You should put a dollar figure together that you will not invest more than this figure after the warranty runs out and then consider buying a new spa with a new warranty.
Until next time...
