How Often Should I Change The Water In My Spa?

Hey All.... Lately I have been asked the question..How often should I change the water in my spa?
Depending on who you talk to, you may get different answers. It is my belief that you should change the water about every 4 months and here's why.

There is a term called TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) and this is the build up of used chemical and all the bi products of spa use. When the TDS level builds up to a certain point the water can no longer absorb anything else and the water becomes locked up. After this point the water tends to be cloudy and very hard to maintain. Any chemical's you put in will be wasted.

How long this process takes is based on how many times per week the spa is used, and how many people are using it. It has been my experience that this will take 3-4 months. An easy way to keep track is to set up a date the same time every 4 months, my rule is do it by Thanksgiving and that will hold you till March when the weather is warmer then do it in July, and it will hold you till November.

Also at these water changes you should also soak your filters in a cleaning solution to get the longest life from the filters.

If you follow these recommendations you should never have to worry about TDS levels.

Until Next Time........
