This is probably the most annoying error code an engineer has ever created!
There are two types of "FL" codes that can appear on your spa topside control display. The first is the flashing "FL". This is where it will say "FL" then flash to the temperature setting then back to "FL" every 3-4 seconds. This tends to be a filtration issue. Most filters
in spas require that you clean them off every 1-2 weeks with a garden hose. If it has been a while you may need to soak your filters overnight in a filter cleaning solution
. Most times this will correct the error code display. Sometimes you may need to turn off the power to your spa and reset the breaker and let the spa re-boot.
Next, there is the constant "FL" error code on the display. This is usually a mechanical malfunction within the system itself, i.e.. there is a flow switch or pressure switch that is cutting the power to the heater
and not allowing the spa to maintain temperature. If this is the case the display will only read "FL" and most pump
functions will not operate, you would need to call a Certified Service Professional. This is typically a simple repair but sometimes requires some diagnosis.
There are many codes that a typical spa (of newer years) has in its data base. Most of these codes and their solutions can be found in your owners manual. For those of you that have an older spa, lets say 10yrs or older you probably do not have a circuit board and or, no LED display. You would need the help of a Certified Service Professional to determine the cause of no heat.
Until next time.......
